29.06.2018: Open-Air 'Movie Nights at the Elbe River Banks'

On June 27th this year's open-air movie nights at the banks of the river Elbe opened again. Until August 26th countless movies will be shown on an approx. 16 m² LED portable screen. To ensure that the projection screen system stands on stable ground at the banks of the river, BAUGRUND DRESDEN has been assisting the organiser with the approval of the foundation from a geotechnical point of view for many years now.

11.06.2018: Franz-Kögler-Preisträger bei BAUGRUND DRESDEN

As in previous years, the Franz-Kögler Prize was awarded again in the course of the 11th Freiberger Geotechnik Kolloquium on 7 June 2018. This prize is granted by the registered association Verein Freiberger Geotechniker e.V for outstanding accomplishments of students with diploma theses, research projects and other scientific works carried out during their studies. The Franz-Kögler Prize 2017 was thus given to our Mr. Dipl.-Ing. Samuel Lenk for his diploma thesis "Dreidimensionale tunnelstatische Berechnungen mit der Finiten Elemente Methode" ("Threedimensional tunnel static calculations with the finite element method").

We congratulate Mr. Lenk for this extraordinary achievement and are more than happy to see that the Franz-Kögler Prize has been awarded to an engineer working for BAUGRUND DRESDEN for the second time.

31.05.2018: PLAXIS workshop at BAUGRUND DRESDEN

On 28 Mai 2018 BAUGRUND DRESDEN hosted the one-day PLAXIS workshop "Practical use of PLAXIS 2D for Earthquake Geotechnical Analysis". The workshop was aimed at practising engineers from Germany and abroad who already had some experiences with finite elements models but where looking to improve their modelling skills and knowledge in the field of seismic analysis (earthquakes).

In a closing lecutre, BAUGRUND DRESDEN gave an insight into their own experiences and developments in this area (keyword: dynamical phi-c-reduction) which were gained and undertaken within the scope of national and international projects.

14.03.2018: Pedological construction supervision

Apart from regular geotechnical construction supervision BAUGRUND DRESDEN also carries out pedological construction supervision for streets, construction roads and pipelines according to the technical bulletin by BVB (Bundesverband Boden e.V.). The main objective of these works is the protection of the functional performance of soils which are required to resume their natural functions even after considerable and extensive construction projects. We currently provide these services in the course of a new district heating pipeline in Dresden.

05.02.2018: Looking for young engineers in Munich

As for many companies finding and binding new employees is also a central challenge for BAUGRUND DRESDEN. For this reason, our general managers, Dr.-Ing. Lutz Vogt and Dipl.-Ing. Steffen Tost, visited the IKOM Bau in Munich on 23 January 2018 for the first time with a booth. The event is organised every year by a students association of the Technical University in Munich and is as popular with students as it is with the participating companies. We are also delighted to see that it was a great success and we could hold countless interesting conversations.

We would like to thank the student organisors who, with their exemplary planning and support, have made sure that we'll be participating in the IKOM Bau in 2019 again.
